Another show over too soon

By the time the show got to "Too Much Time On My Hands," we had a room full of people who were sold on this show and ready to stand up and get into it! Last night and tonight, Tommy decided to look for a cue after the lyric, "Is it any wonder I'm not a criminal?" Last night Micky gave him the line, "With a Criminal Mind," and tonight we both did. Last night he said, "That's right!" and tonight it was, "Thank you!" I don't attempt to explain him!

I don't believe I've ever taken pictures during the part of the song where Tommy turns the microphone toward the audience and lets us sing to them. I'm usually too busy clapping and singing! For once though, I decided to try and capture the moment - so this is my attempt!

The end of the show always passes in a blur for me. The mirror ball, the confetti, Tommy's amazing recovery from being slain by rock and roll, the group Polaroid and all the rest. One thing that did make tonight's and last night's shows a little different was Lawrence playing the beginning of the Skater's theme from "A Charlie Brown Christmas" before introducing "Come Sail Away"! That was a cute holiday touch!

When the guys came by at the end of the show shaking hands, there was a rush of activity around us as people tried to get autographs! Tommy stopped at the couple across the table from us (who had also borrowed a Sharpie from me - I could make some money if I charged for Sharpie rental) and then went back the other way. When Pat made it up behind me, he asked if Tommy had signed his CD books, and I told him no, he hadn't made it that far. So Pat said okay, took his stuff and started to leave. I had to turn around and tell him not to go anywhere! When Lawrence and Glen came over, he got autographs from both of them, and he looked pretty happy about it! People sometimes can't believe that these guys will take a moment and go out of their way to make a fan smile.

Glen and JYSpeaking of that, the little girl to our right had worn her own glittery Styx cap through the whole show, and had gotten to see Glen wear his (forward and backward). I don't think Tommy ever saw his, as it was back behind his microphone stand a little ways, but I'm sure it got to him after the show. JY had his perched on his keyboard for a good part of the show, wore it for about 0.4 seconds, then attempted to fasten it to his own mic stand. Gravity won that one, but good try! When Todd came over in front of us, the girl was able to get his cap to him, and he put it on and smiled at her. Then at the last possible moment as Lawrence was the last to leave the stage, she caught his attention and tossed his cap to him, and he caught it and thanked her. I think she went home happy! She definitely was having a good time during the show. She was up at the stage every second, and early on, I heard her belting out "Blue Collar Man." I looked over at her every now and then after that, and she was singing right along with everything, from "Boat On The River" to "Love Is The Ritual"!

One other guy who had been at the table next to us came up to me on his way out and said, "Thanks, girls, for everything." I said, "Thanks for not asking us to sit down!" And he said, "Why would I do that? You were having a good time." Thank goodness some people get it!

Oh - and the guy who, before the show, had been surprised that I had come to see Styx two nights in a row? He left saying, "Wow, we have to see them again!"
