After "Edge of the Century," everyone moved into their places for "Sing For The Day" as usual, and as Tommy began to introduce the song, he said "We're going to play a song now that we haven't played…. in exactly one year." Everyone turned to JY, and there was suddenly a glow from stage right. Keith came onstage carrying a cake which was cruelly covered in blazing candles! All the guys from REO Speedwagon followed him, and JY came out from behind his keyboard to meet them. The whole place sang "Happy Birthday" to JY, and then he blew out every candle - in two passes, but he did!

Afterwards, he came back up to his microphone and announced, "I'm not as old as it said I was in the paper!" The newspaper had given his age as 52, which is one year too many! No one cut him any breaks tonight - later, in "Too Much Time On My Hands," Tommy still said JY was buying, and JY answered, "Even on my birthday?" No time off around here!
