Waiting, wandering, visiting
After checking out the stage, I went out to the lawn outside the arena, and there sitting on a blanket was Linda! After making sure we knew who the other one was (it's so strange to know people whose faces you don't really know), she said "Come on over, you're on our blanket too!" Linda, her husband John and her kids Stephanie and Tommy had gotten to the fair right at 8am and made sure they had found the correct place to wait in line! Linda's family was out looking around the fair while she held the spot. Judi and Edith had gotten there a little before me, and were also out walking around, checking things out. At that point it was probably about 10am, and we were still the only ones there waiting, although pretty soon there were a couple of other blankets behind us. I sat down with Linda and was glad we were in the sun! It was beautiful weather but a cold morning!
Eventually it warmed up a bit, and we all came and went, taking turns holding our place. There were a couple of other shows going on at the same arena during the day, but the place was cleared out after every show, so we were where we needed to be to get as close as possible for Styx. During the other shows, we didn't go in, but we walked over to the fence and watched some of the show from outside.
The great thing about there being so many of us together is that we got a chance to walk around and see the fair, and there was always someone who was ready to sit and rest for a while. Judi had made some wonderful Styx shirts for Linda and her kids. Tommy, the youngest, had a custom-made shirt that read "My name is Tommy too!" Judi took Tommy around the fair, and we teased her about spending so much of her day with a very cute, blond, sort of short guy named Tommy! Someone would ask, "Where's Judi?" and the answer would be, "Oh, she must have run off with Tommy again!"
