Foreigner

Last on the bill was Foreigner. Unfortunately, a lot of people left while the stage was being changed after REO's set. Someone from the local radio station even came out and said, "Don't leave, it's not over!" She looked at the people in my little group in the third row, with our feet up, pretty well moved in, and said, "I can tell you're not going anywhere!" It was after 11pm though, and after the "finale" feel of the last REO song, a lot of people did go. Foreigner was one of the few performers that night I hadn't seen in the past couple of years, so I was really looking forward to seeing them.

Lou Gramm Foreigner

I did hear some sound problems during Foreigner's set - the first time the bass player touched a string on his guitar, I was nearly blown back six feet and had my hands up to my ears - the feedback was painful! That was fixed soon, but there were other problems too. I've heard since then that Lou Gramm was having a bad night vocally - I think I'll just leave it at that. I know he has had major health issues and I'm glad to see him looking healthy and back on a stage. But I think a lot of people were surprised at what they heard.

I will say though, that I did enjoy Foreigner, and while a number of people did leave, there were plenty of people who stayed, and clapped, and sang along. A lot of Foreigner songs, especially "Juke Box Hero," bring back strong memories for me, and it was great hearing them again. Even if sometimes the sound may not have been exactly what I expected, I was still able to close my eyes, listen to the music, and hear my memories.
