Upgrading, Part One

Next, we went back to the Silver Legacy and went down to the Will Call area to pick up tickets for that night's show. By this time, Donna had seen us so many times that when we  walked in, she said, "There they are again!"  This time there was another woman there, Terri, and I gave her a Styx button too. Donna asked if I had any more, because some of her friends and co-workers who had seen hers since the day before had said, "HEY, where did you get those? And where’s mine?" So I gave her four more!

In addition to picking up her ticket for that night, Kelly asked if there were any seats in the front that had opened up. Her seat for Saturday night was in the 6th row, but after Friday's show, one security person told us that the security staff had gotten chewed out for letting so many people go up to the stage, and that the next night they were going to have more security and would only let people whose seats were in the first five rows go up to the stage. So Kelly was afraid they would park a staffer at the fifth row and not let anyone pass. If you don't understand how sixth row isn't close enough, I won't be able to explain it! When Kelly asked Donna if any seats in the first five rows were available, Donna, who had just given Kelly her ticket for tonight, was confused and asked, "You don't have a ticket for yourself for tonight?" Kelly said, "Yes, I have a ticket, but I'm just looking to see if I can upgrade." Donna said, "Oh, but I can't swap tickets." But Kelly explained that she knew that, and she'd just be buying another ticket! Donna just shook her head at us! It may sound silly, but people pay scalpers and ticket agencies much more than the cost of two tickets, so this is definitely a cheaper and more legal option!

It turned out that there was a seat available in the FIRST row, in section B which was around the side of the stage on Lawrence's side. Since it was so far on the side, Kelly wasn't sure if she should buy it, and the other three of us are all saying yes, yes, you should - it's the first row, so you'll be able to get up front faster. She still wasn't sure, so Debbie suggested they split the cost. Debbie had a third row ticket, so the final decision was that Debbie and Kelly split the cost of the ticket, Debbie would sit in the front, Kelly would sit in the third row, and when Debbie went up to the stage, she'd save Kelly a place. Donna just sat and listened to the whole decision-making process in disbelief, then processed the credit card while smiling and shaking her head!

We ended up spending most of the afternoon right there in the Will Call area. There were a couple of couches around the corner from the ticket area, and we made those our home. It was just a nice quiet place to go and talk to take a break from walking around. I guess we did spend a lot of time there, because at one point Donna came over and asked, "Would you girls like some birthday cake?" It was Terri's birthday, so we all wished her a happy birthday and had a piece of her cake!  Chocolate with raspberry filling and whipped cream frosting... they don't fool around!
