The Rush

At first, security was having everyone stay back at our seats, even though standing and dancing was fine. At Meadowbrook, it's hard to know what to wish - that they will let you rush the stage, or that they won't. When you're up at that tall stage, you just have to look straight up and hope someone comes to the edge so you can see something. On the other hand, there's that urge to be as close as possible. If I thought I could walk on them without breaking my neck, I'd get a pair of eight inch platform shoes to wear to the shows at this venue!

Here's Glen at the edge... ...and JY right out at the edge of the stage too!

As Tommy was introducing "Crystal Ball," a security guy came by in front of us and said, "You can move right up to the stage if you want to." Well if anyone is going up there, you can bet I am too, so by the time he got to the word "up," I was there, face pressed against the granite (almost) and up on my toes to peep over the edge of the stage. If I can keep my hands on the edge of the stage and stay about six inches back, I can do all right up at the stage at this place. Valerie, Kelly and Edith were right up there with me! A few seconds later, I heard a voice behind me say, "Are we having fun yet?" and I turned to see Judi right there in the thick of it as well!

I also saw several of the people from Canada who had been at the pre-show dinner, running down the aisle from their seats and getting as close to the front as they could. While all this was going on, Tommy was talking about what a great venue Meadowbrook is, and how beautiful the area is, and how he can understand why people come from anywhere nearby to see the shows there. He said, "I even hear we have some folks here from Canada tonight." There wasn't a real response from the crowd, but I think it was because everyone was so busy jockeying for position, it was hard to focus on what he was saying! When he didn't get a response, Tommy said, "No? Well maybe they lied to me then!" But they were there, Tommy, I promise!
