The Muppet Show

To kick off "Love Is The Ritual," Glen stepped up to the edge of the stage to talk to us. He noticed a sign that was resting on the stage on the other side from where I was - it said "Hump Here!" If you've ever seen Glen on stage with his bass guitar, you know what this is all about, and Glen appreciated that sign!

Glen - amazingly still Lawrence, JY, Todd and Tommy

While Glen was introducing the next song, he looked up into one of the balcony boxes Hey Hump-boy! Up here! (there was one above each side of the stage) and he was distracted by a guy standing there. In the middle of all the people who were getting into the show and having a good time, stood this older gentleman with a tuxedo on. Glen pointed at him and said "Who's that?" Then he looked over at the balcony box on the other side and said, "And look - another one! It's like the anti-them!" I don't know if they were waiters or overdressed security guards, but they did look a little odd! Someone behind me said, "It's like the Muppet show!" I laughed; he was right! If they had been sitting together, they would have looked like Statler and Waldorf! (Bet you didn't know their names, now did you?)

As predicted, everyone was up on their feet for "Love Is The Ritual." Glen went out into the crowd, and this was one of the few times I could actually turn my head and see where he was. Usually the angle is so bad I can't see him out there! Valerie and I were standing right next to the stairs on stage left, so we got to see Glen run back up on stage up close!

Valerie has become a real Glen fan. At one point in the show, he was standing over our table and playing, and she was smiling at him, so he smiled back and threw a pick to her. Once the Glen Burtnik Smile is turned on you full force, there is no going back - you're a fan for life! Believe me, I know!
