Too Much Time On My Hands
"Too Much Time On My Hands" is a song that Tommy normally talks about a bit, but I don't remember an intro this time. He was wearing a furry pink guitar strap - I believe he has regressed past the 70's and all the way back into the 60's! He ran, jumped and stomped his way around the stage during the solo, having way too much fun and really enjoying the audience! We all clapped along in time at the right moments. JY was buying tonight - he's been buying at most of the shows I went to, which may explain why this time he stepped up to his mike, smiled and said "No more." He also said something other than his usual "He's not the President" but I'm not sure what. Someone said they heard something about the Vice President but I can't confirm! When they took off running and chased Lawrence around the keyboard as fast as they could go, the audience went nuts as usual! That was a lot of fun to watch from so close! The three-man guitar force then convened at the other side of the stage for a strong finish to the song.
The night flew by so fast. It was a shorter show since they were co-headlining with REO, but on top of that, it had been such a night of unbelievable, world-rocking moments for me that the time passed even more quickly. When Lawrence began to play the first few notes of "Come Sail Away," I almost screamed "nooooo!" That wouldn't ordinarily be my reaction to this song, but I knew it meant the end of the show was all too near! Lawrence does an awesome job on this song, and definitely puts his own stamp on the performance. He climbed up on the keyboard early on and was handed his mike by a crew member to continue singing. All the guys were terrific, really getting the crowd involved, as if we needed any encouragement to sing along loudly and clearly with every word. During the instrumental break, Tommy and JY zoned out over on stage right, rocking back and forth as Lawrence got the spotlight. Before the big finish, Lawrence ducked down under the keyboard to take a hit from his water bottle, then climbed back up and up onto the top of the keyboard itself, and when he sang "headed for the sky", he did! Nice hang time! That leap always gets a lot of screams from the crowd, and tonight was no different. The keyboard rig was so close to the edge of the stage, I don't know how he managed not to launch himself out into the audience, but he stayed up onstage. The people at that edge of the stage did flinch noticeably as he landed, though!
Towards the end of the show there were two bras thrown up on stage - JY picked them up and hung them on Glen's bass. When Glen came back over to "my spot" I really realized how close I was - I had to move out of the way a few times not to get hit in the face with a bra strap, but they did hit me in the head!
