REO's encore was "Riding The Storm
Out", which was preceded by some nice visual and sound effects that created
a virtual thunderstorm. During one of their last songs, the man in front of me
who had the banner (Dawn's husband) pointed over at the backstage area way
across the stage from us, and said "There they are!" I looked over and
darned if there wasn't Tommy Shaw's face! He was standing in front of the
backstage door, grinning and bopping along to the music. A lot of the people
right around me saw him and started to wave, and Dawn and her husband held up
the banner and waved it. It seemed to catch Tommy's eye, and he looked over at
it and saw it, recognizable as Styxwork, and broke into a bigger smile. Toward
the end of the song, he turned and disappeared backstage again.
