The onslaught of lingerie

And then it was dark, and the music began to pulse. The Bluesville stage was a little too small and the ceiling a little too low for the normal opening production, so there were no letters, but the anticipation builds just the same. And finally, there they were! The opening medley blew me away as usual, and the boys were already in a good mood, lots of smiles and very loose. They had no idea what they were in for.

While we had been standing and talking before the show, Tani came over to make sure everyone knew the master lingerie plan. Everyone was going to toss at once, and see how much of an underwear blizzard there could be! The cue was to throw after the beginning keyboard solo of Blue Collar Man, on Tommy's "uuuh" - how do you spell that, anyway? I don't think everyone hit the cue precisely, but close enough.  In the ten or so seconds between the end of the solo and the time the first word was sung, approximately 100 pairs of panties and some assorted bras all hit the stage in a barrage.

True professionals these boys, they didn't miss a note, but they were cracking up all over the place! After a few more seconds, they were in on it with us, picking up panties and hanging them on microphone stands, grabbing whole handfuls and tossing them at each other, and just generally adopting the theme of total silliness. Anyone not here to let loose and have a good time was in the wrong room tonight! As I heard a guy off to my right in the audience say, "Boy, this is more fun than eating bugs!"
