On to Memphis

The Styx show part of my story is over - I won't be offended if you stop reading! The weekend wasn't over yet though, so I wouldn't feel this was complete without including the stories from the next couple of days.

Saturday morning we said "see ya later" to some of our crew. Karen went home, and Jen went on to the next show. Kelly stayed long enough to have breakfast with us back at the Sheraton cafe (where the concept of "separate checks" actually worked this time) and do some shopping in the gift shops, then got on the road to go home too. We had put the leftovers of the cake from her bridal shower into her car before breakfast, and I must say the icing had melted beautifully!

After that we headed for Memphis; Cindy and Jerry in their rental car and Debbie, Dr. Karen and me in Debbie's car. Cindy, Jerry, Dr. Karen and I were staying over the Saturday to avoid auctioning off body parts on ebay to be able to afford plane fare, and Debbie was hanging out with us to help ferry people to the airport Sunday, and also just to hang out - no one ever wants these excursions to end!

Thanks to Jerry's navigational skills, we found and browsed a couple of malls in Memphis, and I think between us we only bought some scrubs and a frog. Then we got Cindy and Jerry checked into their hotel, and went into Memphis to have dinner at the Hard Rock cafe, right on Beale Street.

We had a very nice dinner, and bought way more stuff there than we had at the malls in the afternoon. The waiter took so long to come back with our final checks that we began to wonder if he was trying to run away with our AAA cards. I guess that discount takes time to calculate! The checks were separate but not actually correct, but rather than wait for a correction, we figured out the difference amongst ourselves and escaped. Some of us even took the pens as payback. Ha! That will show them!
