No rules
At about 8:00, the venue staff moved the ropes aside and we went up the stairs. There was a big sign that read "NO CAMERAS ALLOWED," but no one checked our bags at all. I wasn’t sure how security would be once we got inside though, since I’d heard stories from last year about them not even letting people stand. I usually decide about using the camera by instinct anyway.
Laura, John, Micky and I were at table 108, at the far right side of the stage, with most of the rest of our group at tables 107 and 109 at the other end. The six tables at the stage in the center were reserved for guests of the casino. That kind of setup is notorious for resulting in the middle section being a bit sedate while the edges are rocking out, if we’re allowed! When other people began arriving at our table, Micky told them that the rule for table 108 was that we would all be standing during the show. The guy she was talking to said, "No rules." So Micky said, "Well… how about a polite suggestion then?" He was smiling, but still very non-committal. He kept chatting though, and eventually they realized they had a die-hard fan on their hands! The conversation quickly turned to, "Can you get a drumstick for my son?" Micky said if she could get Todd’s attention at the end of the show, she’d do her best! I think that won him over!
After a long, impatient wait, "School’s Out" started to play, and we all ran back to our seats and stood in front of them! Sure enough, most people weren’t standing at first, but we didn’t care. I was just glad no one, either security or the people at the tables around us, asked us to sit!
