Moving into position
And now you're thinking well FINALLY - this review has gotten to the part about the actual show! Have no doubt, the show is the main event!
The opening music started, the band took the stage, then the lights blasted on and there they were! There were two seats right in front of me in the front row that had been empty all through Herb's show, so I moved up and stood in front of one of them. I'm glad to say the other people in the front row of my section were already standing! I didn't even stay there very long, because after the opening medley was over, I saw a surge of about 20 people go right up to the front, so I was right in there with them! I ended up right at the stage, at the far stage left corner. Surprisingly enough, even though we didn't have seats that were near each other, I ended up surrounded by a lot of people I knew! Could we have all been waiting to make a move? Karen was next to me, and Kelly and Edith and Chow were right behind me. I noticed Chow and his little boy behind me, and I stepped back and let the little guy in front of me so he could see. Well, he could kind of see - the stage was about four feet tall, and I think he was about three or four inches taller than that! We were right next to one of the confetti cannons, and there was sort of a sharp corner that was just close enough to his head to worry about. Edith noticed it and handed me a t-shirt she had in her bag, and we folded it over the corner. This little guy was just a hoot the whole night - he was so excited! Tommy threw him a pick right off, Glen handed him a pick later, and JY threw him a pick which he caught in the air! He also got to play Glen's bass, and he was waving a paper US flag that Lawrence borrowed from him for a few minutes at the end of the show and waved back and forth, before giving it back. I would say that he is a true Styx fan in training, but what does age matter? He is already a true Styx fan!
