Let's see what you've got

The way they segue from "Sing For The Day" into "Fooling Yourself" is so seamless and perfect that it's hard to believe they haven't been doing it for years! JY is over at his keyboard, which is attached to the side of Todd's drum kit, at the beginning of this song. I always try to take pictures of JY there and they're never going to come out because of the low stage lighting on him at the time, but I keep trying anyway! I did end up with a nice picture of Todd!

I'm fooling myself if I think this is a good picture - I like it anyway!

Thank goodness there is a line in this song that says "Get up!" That's all I needed and I was UP out of my seat, along with the people next to me and everyone else close behind us.

So much goes on onstage during this song. In the middle of the song there is an instrumental section, and Tommy says "Glen Burtnik - let's see what you've got tonight!" Glen bounces and skips around the stage in time with the kind of relaxed beat (it's the 7/4 section, if you're into time signatures), and Tommy "chases" him around the stage. Later during the 6/8 section, JY goes tearing across the stage, takes Lawrence's piano stool and spins around and around on it! Then at the end, Tommy, JY and Glen gather at center stage and turn this into a headbanging song.

Say AAAA Tommy... Glen's tonsils look fine too

Okay, story time! I believe it may have been during this song that Tommy was over near my side of the stage and threw a pick sort of in my general direction. I don't dive or push or fight for guitar picks - if they are placed directly into my hands, that's okay though! Anyway, the bunch of people all around me lunged, I stepped back, and hands and arms were everywhere as the pick bounced around. One of the ladies in front of me had her pocketbook on the seat next to her, and the pick finally landed right on top of her bag. She was kind of bewildered while people were grabbing, and just trying to get out of the way. The guy two seats down from me who had been calling out to Tommy for a pick was leaning way across me and his friend between us, and really going for the pick while it was in the air. When the pick landed though, he was too nice to basically grab for her pocketbook and snatch the pick away. He just looked very disappointed, and backed off. The woman saw that the pick had fallen there, and she picked it up and reached out and smiled, and handed it to him. You should have seen his face - he had just found the Holy Grail. The two ladies were just beaming; they were so happy to give it to him, because he had so obviously wanted a Tommy Shaw guitar pick, not just anything and everything he could get from the stage as a souvenir. He was so delighted, showing the pick to his friend.  It was such an awesome moment.
