Pre-show
After a while, we left to go to the pre-show dinner that was planned for 4:30. We got to the restaurant a little before it opened at 4:00, and as we were standing around the car, another couple of cars drove up. A lot of the people who got out of those cars were wearing Styx shirts. I thought they might be some of the people I hadn't met who had planned on coming, and I figured even if they weren't, they were Styx fans, so why not go over and introduce myself? They turned out to be the group from Quebec that I was expecting! As we were chatting and waiting for the restaurant to open, we were joined by Steve, who had come over from England for the show!
We
didn't have any activities, just dinner, but we had a good time! I always thought
it would be fun to have a souvenir from a show that was specifically made for
that show, so I put together special buttons for everyone with the venue and date. Those
of us who were there when the restaurant opened went ahead and invaded the place
a little early, and pretty soon Kim from Quebec was there, and Tom and Linda
from Connecticut, and Mark and Ann from New York. We were all pretty surprised
when the restaurant wasn't able to split up the check for a group of 18
people, but we worked it out. Next time I'll know to ask that question while I'm
making plans!
