So where are you from?

Sparky the Styx Bear!So - back to the hotel, so I could get back to the Civic Center! Once inside, I stopped at the merchandise table and took a look at all the new stuff! I had to get a shirt with  the new Styxworld '02 logo on it, especially since it had a fantastic picture of the band on the back from the photo shoot done at Hoover Dam. I also stared at the little stuffed bear wearing the bear-sized Styx shirt until the guy made me buy it (he twisted my arm - honestly). With my bag of stuff, I went on in to my seat.

I hadn't been sitting long when the two people with the seats next to mine came in. The guy immediately said, "Hi, how ya doing?" and introduced himself and his girlfriend, and made me feel right at home! His name was Andy, and she had a pretty name that I can't recall for the life of me! It was one I hadn't heard before, and sometimes new names don't stick in my head. But they were both very nice and friendly!

By chance, one of the first things Andy said to me was, "So where are you from?" I said, "New Hampshire." He thought about that for a second, then asked, "Do you have family around here that you're visiting or something?" And I said, "No, just here to see the show." He believed me, but I don't think he knew what to say next! I explained the disease of Styx addiction, and he understood. Not everyone does, but he did! He said that a friend of his did something similar, traveling to see a sports team. I agreed that it's very similar, and said that people somehow understand when you follow a sports team, but don't get it when it's a band. Then Andy said, "But this is better. You could go on a long trip to see your team, and they could lose. But this way, you always win!" YES! How much do you think Andy would charge to call up all our friends and family who don't get it, and explain it to them?
