Can't stay put
When the lights went down and "School's Out" started to play, Lightwench (who was next to me) and I got ready to move, to see if we could make it up to the stage. It's not like we were that far away, but closer is always better!
Our seats were the two closest to the stage on our side of the table, and we were a little past Lawrence's keyboard, right about where the speaker stacks started. We stood up, and the guy behind us asked us to sit down. Sigh. Okay. We sat, but stayed ready to move. Dina saw us, made sure she and Tracy were out of our way, and asked me how far we were going to try and go. Did I mention Redheads rock? I told her we were just going to try and go up to the stage in front of where we were.
When Styx came out, we made our move - just the two of us. Easy targets for security, who quickly came over and pointed out that we were not where we were supposed to be, and indicated that we should return to that location. Sigh. Okay. At least security was perfectly fine with cameras. In fact, as the show went on, it seemed to be the cool thing to do for people to go up to the stage, turn around, and have a buddy take their picture in front of the band! The guys had some strange reactions at first, but then seemed to get used to it! Security definitely walked right by me with my camera right out there many times and didn't have a problem with it.
In fact, except for not letting us rush the stage right away, security didn't have much problem with me at all. It was kind of strange, not that I'm complaining! At first we went back to our seats and sat down, like we were told. But before the opening medley was even done, I couldn't help standing up again. This time, the people behind me were cool, and I stayed up for most of the show. I did sit when everyone else did, just because the people around me were being so nice and non-complaining - I figured I'd try and be nice to them too! Security also let me stand not exactly at my seat, but between my table and the stage. I moved there because when I was at my seat, there was a speaker blaring right into my ear at close range. Moving up just a few inches got my eardrum out of the line of fire. So when security or a waitress needed to get by, I'd step back behind my chair and let them pass, then jump right back out there again!
